Job Requirements

  • Minimum 8th grade education
  • At least 17 years of age
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Possess or be willing to obtain ServSafe Certification within the specified time frame
  • Ability to work on-site at Byron Health Center
  • Physical capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work beyond normal hours including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and infection control precautions
  • Ability to maintain high personal hygiene standards and use appropriate PPE
  • Must meet general health requirements including medical and physical exam
  • Ability to handle the mental and emotional demands of the role

Job Duties

  • Regularly clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, and work surfaces to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety
  • Properly store clean dishes, utensils, and equipment in designated areas to maintain organization and accessibility
  • Support kitchen staff by assisting with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients
  • Implement and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage and work areas
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of food and non-food supplies
  • Dispose of kitchen waste properly, separating and removing recyclables and cleaning trash bins regularly
  • Assist on neighborhoods, serving meals and ensuring areas are clean as needed
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries, including using appropriate personal protective equipment and handling chemicals safely
  • Mop spills promptly and mark wet floors with warning signs
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and other team members to coordinate tasks
  • Uphold high standards of personal hygiene and proper uniform use
  • Comply with health and sanitation regulations
  • Participate in departmental meetings and staff development programs
  • Remove garbage and other hazardous materials
  • Follow established infection control precautions
  • Agree not to disclose protected health information
