Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years experience in food service
- 1+ year supervisory experience
- Current SERVSafe Kitchen Manager’s Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Ability to understand food preparation and safety instructions
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to communicate with diverse personnel
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and POS software
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds
- Standing and walking for entire shift
- Ability to reach, balance, stoop, kneel, twist, bend
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts
- Exposure to fumes, extreme cold, and heat
- Criminal records check
- Eligible to work in the United States and provide authorization
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
- 2+ years experience in school food service or any food service including cooking, production, inventory
- 1+ year in a supervisory role
- Current SERVSafe Kitchen Manager’s Certification or ability to obtain within first 30 days of hire
- Ability to understand food preparation and safety instructions
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures
- Ability to operate small and large kitchen equipment and tools
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to communicate effectively with personnel, students, and parents
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Experience using POS and clock in/out software
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic and understand basic finance
- Ability to motivate, delegate, and lead a team
- Ability to read, analyze, and carry out instructions in English
Job Duties
- Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations adhering to Child Nutrition Program guidelines
- Supervise, manage, and cross train kitchen staff
- Produce work schedules and manage employee absences
- Use the staff development cycle to provide formal, timely, and appropriate feedback on work performance
- Ensure proper storage of food and supplies
- Ensure adherence to State Safety and Sanitation guidelines
- Monitor working condition of kitchen equipment
- Report work-related injuries promptly
- Document monthly safety training with kitchen staff
- Ensure adherence to standardized recipes
- Continuously monitor food quality during production and service
- Ensure compliance and accuracy in counting and claiming methods
- Create a welcoming environment in cafeteria and points of service
- Follow best practices for menu presentation and participation promotion
- Manage production, ordering, and inventory
- Perform data entry for production and servings in Titan Menu Daily
- Report recipe/menu errors to Director of Menus
- Plan food production based on records
- Monitor portion control complying with USDA/TDA meal patterns
- Monitor inventory levels for central and vended kitchens
- Maintain weekly and physical inventory
- Monitor records in Titan Perpetual Inventory System
- Place accurate production orders
- Manage gas credit card reconciliations
- Monitor food production and waste
- Perform daily cash drawer and a la carte sales reconciliation
- Adhere to cash handling accounting processes
- Oversee student/staff lunch account balances
- Coordinate meals for field trips and testing
- Attend required trainings
- Assist with other kitchen tasks including delivery, cooking, cleaning, and serving
- Establish and maintain positive communication with staff and parents
- Perform other duties as assigned by FOM/Director
