Job Requirements

  • Criminal background clearance
  • Possess and maintain a valid and current Food Handler's Permit
  • Adhere to attire protocol
  • Possess and maintain a valid Washington state driver's license
  • Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current FWPS employee or guest employee with nutrition services
  • Past experience in a service industry serving the public
  • Working knowledge of basic computer applications
  • Past experience working as a lead worker in charge of a crew
  • National School Lunch Program experience
  • Member ASFSA or WSFSA

Job Duties

  • Provide a positive friendly efficient and responsible meal service to students and staff
  • Work as a role model and leader of school kitchen assistant for quality service
  • Promote school lunch through advertising and promotions
  • Coordinate meal service activities to support building activities and goals
  • Collaborate with building representatives and report to supervisors
  • Plan and assign work to school kitchen assistants and student helpers
  • Operate Point of Sale system and related equipment
  • Process free and reduced applications
  • Assure confidentiality and dignity of students regarding meal status
  • Notify supervisor of work impediments
  • Adhere to National School Lunch Program guidelines
  • Maintain and display signage and attractive non-food displays
  • Check condition and accuracy of food and supplies
  • Maintain equipment and kitchen cleanliness
  • Use proper safety standards
  • Communicate and report staff performance
  • Attend scheduled meetings
  • Provide complete meal service with up-to-date kitchen decor
  • Develop and maintain positive customer relations
  • Work collaboratively with district staff
  • Adhere to state and county food code
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics
