Job Requirements
- Work scheduled hours consistently
- Criminal background clearance
- Possess and maintain valid Food Handler's Permit
- Adhere to attire protocol
- Possess and maintain valid Washington state driver’s license
- Knowledge of school board policies and procedures
- Basic mathematics and reading skills
- Ability to speak, read and follow communications in English
- Ability to organize and perform duties independently
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional conduct
- Capability to work with large food preparation systems
- Ability to lead and direct staff
- Physical capability to lift at least 40 pounds regularly
- Ability to work in varying temperature environments
- Ability to interact positively with diverse populations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current FWPS employee or guest employee with Nutrition Services
- Experience in a service industry serving the public preferred
- Working knowledge of basic computer applications
- Experience as a lead worker in charge of a staff crew preferred
- Knowledge of National School Lunch Program preferred
- Membership in ASFSA or WSFSA preferred
Job Duties
- Provide a positive, friendly, efficient and responsible meal service to students and staff
- Work as a role model and leader for School Kitchen Assistant
- Promote school lunch through advertising and promotions
- Supply a wide variety of meal choices for all serving times
- Coordinate meal service activities with building representatives
- Assign work to School Kitchen Assistant and student helpers
- Operate Point of Sale systems and maintain kitchen equipment
- Process free and reduced meal applications
- Ensure confidentiality and dignity of students regarding meal status
- Complete crew work within contracted time
- Adhere to National School Lunch Program guidelines
- Monitor sales and keep accurate records
- Maintain and display promotional signage
- Check condition and accuracy of food supplies
- Maintain sanitary and safe kitchen environment
- Use proper safety standards in preparation and serving
- Communicate staff performance to supervisors
- Attend scheduled department meetings
- Prepare complete meal service and updated kitchen décor for school start and breaks
- Develop and maintain positive customer relations
- Work cooperatively with district staff and promote teamwork
- Adhere to State and County health codes
- Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics
