Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 or more years of kitchen management experience
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and allergy protocols
  • Ability to manage kitchen staff and operations
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Capacity to stand for long periods and lift 50 pounds
  • Effective communication skills
  • Willingness to work in person at the Pearl location in San Antonio, Texas

Job Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of kitchen management experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of kitchen stations including expo, grill, prep, and line quality standards
  • Strong understanding of food, service, and atmosphere business standards
  • Financial acumen and experience with P and L accountability is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and adaptable to new POS, inventory, and HR software
  • Resourceful problem-solving skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Spanish speaking skills are a plus but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • TABC, Food Handler, and Allergen certifications

Job Duties

  • Manage the successful operation of the kitchen including food production and quality
  • Monitor food quality standards including temperature, preparation, and plating
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of recipes and food preparation procedures
  • Ensure food safety and allergy awareness protocols are followed
  • Develop and cross-train team members
  • Promote a sense of urgency among team members
  • Oversee kitchen cleanliness and cleaning programs
  • Manage day-to-day kitchen operations and menu execution
  • Conduct weekly inventory and meet food cost goals
  • Oversee ordering of kitchen production items
  • Assess staffing needs and hire qualified team members
  • Handle personnel actions including training, disciplining, and terminating staff as necessary
  • Ensure proper set up and breakdown of back-of-house for every shift
  • Organize and follow up on training programs
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings with front and back-of-house teams
  • Perform line checks and correct issues promptly
