Job Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Experience as a cook
- Knowledge or willingness to learn CACFP meal pattern and food safety requirements
- Ability to plan and prepare balanced meals
- Understanding of hygienic facility maintenance and housekeeping standards
- Commitment to spiritual maturity and Christian faith
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to evaluate self
- Maintain current First-Aid and CPR certification
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Experienced cook with knowledge of basic principles of good nutrition
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn CACFP meal pattern and food safety requirements
- Demonstrated ability to plan for economical shopping and prepare balanced meals and snacks
- Understanding of hygienic facility maintenance, good housekeeping standards, state licensing, and accrediting standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to have spiritual conversations with children and adults
- Self-starter with a neat personal appearance and good personal cleanliness habits
- Willingness to pursue studies in child development and/or nutrition
Job Duties
- Plan, make necessary purchases for, prepare, and serve meals and snacks to all children
- Review the food service program with the program administrator and/or nutritionist periodically and coordinate the program with other school activities
- Provide assistance to teachers for food and cooking experiences in the classroom
- Ensure familiarity and compliance with minimum standards guidelines and food program requirements including nutritional content and portion sizes
- Maintain compliance with CACFP meal pattern, portioning, and recordkeeping during food preparation and service
- Ensure equipment is properly sanitized, stored, and the kitchen is left in a safe and sanitary condition daily
- Keep ongoing inventory of supplies
- Perform simple laundry tasks
- Participate in ongoing in-service training to expand child development knowledge
- Meet all employment requirements outlined in staff handbook
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, workdays, parent conferences, open houses, graduation programs, and special functions
- Maintain current First-Aid and CPR certification during employment
