Job Requirements
- Must hold a current Chicago Food Service Sanitation Manager certificate
- Flexible to work rotating daytime shifts between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM
- Reliable and accountable to cover call-offs
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual Spanish/English is a strong plus
Job Qualifications
- 2 to 4 plus years of culinary experience
- At least 2 years as a line cook
- Prior kitchen management or shift lead experience
- Experience with breakfast, brunch, high-volume, or cafe settings preferred
- Exceptional time management skills
- Clean knife skills
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Flexible schedule
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Hospitality mindset with dedication to excellence and cleanliness
Job Duties
- Prepare hot and cold breakfast and lunch dishes to specification
- Double and triple-check all orders for presentation, consistency, and portion control
- Handle off-the-line management tasks including inventory, ordering, scheduling, and recipe costing
- Lead, train, mentor, and manage line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers
- Cover shifts as needed due to staff call-offs
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and equipment
- Collaborate on menu development and create weekly cafe specials
