Job Requirements

  • Must hold a current Chicago Food Service Sanitation Manager certificate
  • Flexible to work rotating daytime shifts between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM
  • Reliable and accountable to cover call-offs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a strong plus

Job Qualifications

  • 2 to 4 plus years of culinary experience
  • At least 2 years as a line cook
  • Prior kitchen management or shift lead experience
  • Experience with breakfast, brunch, high-volume, or cafe settings preferred
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Clean knife skills
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Flexible schedule
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
  • Hospitality mindset with dedication to excellence and cleanliness

Job Duties

  • Prepare hot and cold breakfast and lunch dishes to specification
  • Double and triple-check all orders for presentation, consistency, and portion control
  • Handle off-the-line management tasks including inventory, ordering, scheduling, and recipe costing
  • Lead, train, mentor, and manage line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers
  • Cover shifts as needed due to staff call-offs
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and equipment
  • Collaborate on menu development and create weekly cafe specials
