Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Experienced cook
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn CACFP meal pattern and food safety requirements
  • Ability to plan, prepare, and serve balanced meals economically
  • Understanding of hygienic facility maintenance, good housekeeping standards, state licensing, and accrediting standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Experience as a cook
  • Knowledge of basic principles of good nutrition
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn CACFP meal pattern and food safety requirements
  • Ability to plan economically for shopping and meal preparation
  • Understanding of hygienic facility maintenance and good housekeeping standards
  • Knowledge of state licensing and accrediting standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Spiritual maturity and commitment to Christ-centered mission
  • Ability to engage in spiritual conversations with children and adults
  • Self-starter with good personal hygiene and neat appearance
  • Willingness to pursue studies in child development or nutrition

Job Duties

  • Plan, make necessary purchases for, prepare, and serve meals and snacks to all children
  • Review the food service program with the program administrator and/or nutritionist periodically
  • Coordinate the food service program with other school activities
  • Provide assistance to teachers for food and cooking classroom experiences
  • Maintain compliance with CACFP meal pattern, portioning, and recordkeeping requirements
  • Ensure equipment is properly sanitized and kitchen is left safe and sanitary daily
  • Keep ongoing inventory of supplies
  • Perform simple laundry tasks
  • Participate in ongoing in-service training programs
  • Meet all employment requirements in staff handbook
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, staff work days, parent conferences, open houses, graduations and special functions
  • Maintain current First-Aid and CPR certification during employment
