Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to lift items weighing up to 40 pounds
  • ability to stand or walk 75% of the workday
  • experience in food service or kitchen management preferred
  • must complete ServSafe Manager Certification within 6 months
  • ability to perform repetitive motions
  • ability to use hands to operate kitchen equipment
  • flexibility to adapt to a variety of assignments
  • ability to maintain confidentiality with employee issues

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ServSafe Manager Certification within 6 months of hire
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • effective oral and written communication skills
  • ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
  • ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions
  • demonstrated critical thinking and leadership skills
  • experience with food service operations preferred

Job Duties

  • Train and develop kitchen staff
  • create and revise training materials
  • deliver safety and HACCP training
  • manage and train up to 4 kitchen assistants
  • oversee sanitation and cleanliness of kitchen facilities
  • maintain security of kitchen unit
  • follow safe food preparation practices
  • manage food inventory and place orders
  • handle employee issues with discretion and confidentiality
  • conduct critical conversations to manage performance
  • respond to parent, staff, and student complaints
  • ensure compliance with USDA Professional Standards training
  • monitor sales lines and ensure meal reimbursement compliance
  • approve payroll and employee time off
  • maintain kitchen financial records and deposits
  • pursue community relationships and customer service focus
  • monitor regulatory compliance and ensure inspection readiness
  • manage breakfast program if applicable
