Job Requirements

  • Hold high school diploma or equivalent
  • be a current FWPS employee or guest employee with Nutrition Services
  • work scheduled hours consistently
  • pass criminal background clearance
  • possess and maintain valid food handler's permit
  • adhere to attire protocol
  • possess and maintain valid Washington state driver's license

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • current FWPS employee or guest employee with Nutrition Services
  • past experience in service industry serving the public
  • cash handling experience
  • working knowledge of basic computer applications
  • National School Lunch Program experience
  • member of ASFSA or WSFSA

Job Duties

  • Provide a positive, friendly, efficient and responsible meal service to students and staff
  • perform a variety of duties in serving food including set up and clean-up work
  • promote school meals through advertising and promotions
  • communicate and serve meals to students
  • issue tickets, receive cash, make change and account for free and reduced lunches and milk sold adhering to procedures
  • notify parents of lunch money due
  • operate point of sale system using computer and related equipment
  • maintain confidentiality and dignity of students receiving free and reduced meals
  • schedule serving time with principal and secretary and serve according to schedule
  • obtain and assign student helpers as allowed
  • work cooperatively with the school in processing free and reduced lunch applications
  • check condition and accuracy of food counts upon arrival
  • use directed procedures for food display, serving, heating, portioning and ordering
  • maintain kitchen equipment and sanitary conditions
  • notify necessary equipment repairs
  • maintain kitchen or cafeteria displays within budget
  • use proper safety standards
  • provide complete meal service with up-to-date décor and menus for first day of school and after breaks
  • attend all contracted meetings
  • develop positive customer relations with staff and service providers
  • work collaboratively with district staff
  • comply with health department food code
  • maintain confidentiality and professional ethics
