Camp Fire Columbia is a longstanding nonprofit organization dedicated to youth development and outdoor education. Established in 1924, the organization provides summer camp experiences for children and teenagers ages 5 to 18. Job Requirements

  • Experience leading a team in a commercial kitchen, camp kitchen or restaurant
  • experience creating menus, managing inventory and budget
  • working knowledge of food safety principles
  • ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups
  • ability to supervise and train staff
  • valid Oregon Food Handler's card
  • ServSafe certification
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to work in varying environmental conditions
  • willingness to support inclusive and equitable workplace culture

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation
  • experience leading a team in a commercial kitchen, camp kitchen or restaurant
  • experience creating menus, managing inventory and budget
  • working knowledge of food safety principles
  • ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals
  • ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • ability to speak effectively before groups
  • ability to calculate figures and apply basic algebra and geometry
  • advanced basic computer skills including email communication and document composition
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to written, oral, or diagram instructions
  • ability to deal with problems with several concrete variables
  • valid Oregon Food Handler's card
  • ServSafe certification
  • First Aid and CPR certification

Job Duties

  • Communicate effectively and remain calm under pressure
  • develop, record, and maintain standardized recipes and procedures
  • maintain adequate inventory and proper rotation of kitchen supplies
  • supervise and participate in meal preparation for youth, staff, and guests
  • provide options for special dietary needs
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and food service areas
  • monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and presentation
  • comply with health and food safety standards
  • inform and train camp staff on dining space responsibilities and protocols
  • maintain staff performance records
  • carry out other duties as assigned
