Job Qualifications

  • 5 years of proven experience as a Kitchen Manager, Head Chef, or similar role in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership and team management skills including training and motivation capabilities
  • Ability to advocate effectively for restaurant needs to Operations
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to manage kitchen inventory and control food costs
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle high-volume situations
  • Good communication and collaboration skills across all staff levels
  • Ability to assess needs for successful service and assist as necessary
  • Ability to follow directions from the Food and Beverage Director
  • Ability to commit to a set schedule

Job Duties

  • Supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff, ensuring the team works efficiently and cohesively
  • create a fun, fast paced atmosphere
  • Encourage the team to stay calm and perform successfully under pressure
  • recognize teaching moments and train BOH team members
  • Demonstrate knowledge of team members’ skill sets and assign appropriate stations
  • Assist with menu planning and ensure food quality and presentation standards are met
  • Provide oversight and mentorship to BOH staff for safety and quality
  • Work with Purchasing Director and use XtraChef to manage inventory, order ingredients, and monitor stock levels
  • Ensure consistency in product and portion control
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including food storage, handling, and cleaning procedures
  • Manage sanitation stations
  • Train BOH staff on food handling and sanitation
  • Monitor food and labor costs to maintain budget and reduce waste
  • Oversee daily food preparation to ensure quality and taste
  • Monitor daily staffing, problem solve shortages, and manage labor ratios
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is operational and coordinate repairs
  • Collaborate with Owner, Operations, and Food & Beverage Director to implement changes
  • Address operational issues, employee concerns, and customer feedback promptly
  • Maintain a professional and courteous work environment while leading the team to success
