Job Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food service
  • ServSafe certified or able to meet certification requirements within a specified timeframe
  • Good written and oral communication skills and organizational abilities
  • Flexible hospitable able to work independently and follow directions consistently

Job Duties

  • Prepare menus and meals in compliance with Philadelphia Corporation for Aging menu guidelines and related nutritional guidance and with sensitivity to the cultural norms and preferences of center consumers
  • Plan and order all food and food service supplies managing inventory in accordance with budgetary limitations and safe food handling practices
  • Manage and maintain kitchen adhering to all standards and compliance guidelines established by the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging Department of Health and other regulatory bodies and organizational stakeholders
  • Prepare and distribute appetizing and nutritious breakfasts and lunches daily to approximately 100 or more seniors
  • Supervise kitchen staff on day to day operations
