Job Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in food service
  • 3+ years experience managing teams larger than 10 staff
  • Maintain and update ServSafe certification
  • Comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos
  • Communicate effectively in oral or written form
  • Effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations
  • Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10’s and 100’s
  • Perform operations using units of US currency and measurement
  • Apply common sense to carry out detailed instructions
  • Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables
  • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, website, and time clock software proficiently
  • Use recipe management, inventory control, and scaling software proficiently
  • High school or GED equivalent

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in food service
  • At least 3 years’ experience managing teams larger than 10 staff
  • Maintain ServSafe certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, and scheduling software
  • Skilled in recipe management, inventory control, and scaling software
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Effective oral and written communication abilities
  • Ability to comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to handle diverse and customer-facing situations professionally
  • Knowledge of food safety laws and procedures
  • Financial acumen related to budget management
  • Ability to model and promote cooperative values

Job Duties

  • Uphold all co-op policies, procedures, and expectations
  • Ensure the department operates effectively and efficiently
  • Exceed customers’ expectations for service and provide a welcoming environment
  • Produce a competitive and engaging customer experience
  • Create a productive, friendly, and fun working environment
  • Develop and maintain beautiful, clean, and full merchandise displays
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and security laws and regulations
  • Oversee equipment cleanliness and preventative maintenance
  • Ensure high quality and consistency of all kitchen products
  • Create and develop high-quality menu items
  • Ensure effective procurement and production procedures
  • Oversee and audit inventories of product, tools, and equipment
  • Stay abreast of new products and technology
  • Complete all administrative responsibilities promptly and accurately
  • Plan, audit, and update department programs
  • Set departmental goals with the Food Service Manager
  • Design and monitor effective training programs
  • Conduct regular evaluations of department staff
  • Model supportive and participatory leadership
  • Set clear performance expectations and hold staff accountable
  • Create and post weekly department schedules
  • Ensure prompt and effective communication
  • Establish annual departmental budgets
  • Monitor labor and margin ranges
  • Monitor direct and indirect expenses
