Job Qualifications

  • 5 years of proven experience as a kitchen manager head chef or similar role in a fast paced environment
  • Strong leadership and team management skills including demonstrated ability to train and teach less experienced staff and the ability to motivate team members while maintaining a professional and caring work environment
  • Ability to advocate clearly and efficiently for restaurant needs to operations
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to manage kitchen inventory and control food costs during daily operations
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle high-volume situations
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate and train with all levels of staff
  • Ability to be a team player assess what is needed for successful service and assist as needed
  • Ability to communicate and follow through with direction from the Food and Beverage Director
  • Ability to commit to a set schedule

Job Duties

  • Supervise train and motivate kitchen staff ensuring the team works efficiently and cohesively and create a fun fast paced atmosphere
  • Encourage the team to stay calm and perform successfully under pressure recognizing teaching moments and opportunities to train and advance BOH team members
  • Assist with menu planning and ensure that all food is prepared to the highest quality and presentation standards providing oversight and mentorship to BOH staff in maintaining safety and quality standards
  • Work closely with the Purchasing Director using XtraChef to manage food and supply inventory order ingredients and monitor stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking ensuring consistency of product and presentation especially with portion control
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including proper food storage handling and cleaning procedures managing sanitation stations including hand sinks and training BOH staff on food handling and sanitation standards
  • Monitor food and labor costs to maintain budgetary guidelines and reduce waste using correct portions and monitoring food waste
  • Oversee daily food preparation and cooking to ensure consistent quality and taste
  • Monitor daily staffing situation problem solve during shortages and make cuts when necessary to maintain sales labor ratios
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is in good working order and coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary
  • Work with Owner Operations and Food and Beverage Director to ensure success and implement changes
  • Address operational issues employee concerns or customer feedback promptly
  • Maintain a professional and courteous work environment while leading co-workers to success
