Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or relevant experience
  • Serve Safe certification required
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, squat, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, push, pull, grasp, feel, taste, smell, talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to exert over 60 pounds of force occasionally and move objects up to 25 pounds frequently
  • Ability to concentrate visually with depth perception and color vision
  • Ability to work in inside and outside conditions with exposure to heat, humidity, cold, chemicals, and loud noise
  • Ability to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies
  • Strong communication and math skills
  • Experience supervising kitchen staff and managing food production
  • Ability to train and cross-train staff

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or relevant experience
  • Serve Safe certification
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to present information effectively in small group situations
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions
  • Experience with kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, steamers, mixers, ovens, stoves, fryers, slicers, thermometers, and meal counting software

Job Duties

  • Monitor food and food preparation to maintain quality standards for preparation, presentation, and sanitation
  • Promote customer service by investigating and resolving food quality and service complaints
  • Coordinate the preparation and daily transportation of meals to satellite buildings where applicable
  • Conduct daily safety and production meetings with kitchen staff
  • Supervise kitchen staff in all areas of production and delegate workflow
  • Train, cross-train, and certify all kitchen job stations
  • Ensure overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and storage areas
  • Maintain compliance with Opaa! recipes and menu plans
  • Submit all hours worked by clocking in and out or by submitting edit sheets for missing time
  • Maintain compliance with all HACCP processes and procedures
  • Maintain compliance with HHFKA and CACFP meal patterns
  • Maintain compliance with all Opaa! safety processes, worker and health safety regulations, and State and Local Health Department requirements
  • Coordinate and submit food and supply orders
  • Ensure production records are complete and accurate daily
  • Conduct commercial/commodity physical inventory count and ensure FIFO standards
  • Ensure all products are properly received and discrepancies noted
  • Enter participation counts daily
  • Perform daily tray counts and reconcile with district reports
  • Maintain open lines of communication with building principals and conduct weekly update meetings
  • Attend and participate in weekly Kitchen Manager meetings with DNS
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Opaa! Food Management
