  • control food cost and usage by following proper requisition procedures
  • instruct cooks in food preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation
  • collaborate with restaurant managers to plan and price menu items
  • supervise kitchen staff engaged in food preparation
  • ensure consistent preparation and serving according to recipes and standards
  • schedule personnel for anticipated business activity
