Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience managing commercial kitchen or food service operations
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Leadership experience with team supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and schedules
  • Experience with training and onboarding
  • Skills in relationship building and community engagement
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
  • Proficient in relevant software tools
  • Passion for supporting food entrepreneurs
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Minnesota driver’s license within 60 days if newly a resident

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, or related field preferred
  • Experience managing a commercial kitchen or similar food service operations
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and licensing regulations
  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and training diverse teams
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience supervising staff, contractors, or volunteers
  • Comfortable delivering training, workshops, and onboarding sessions
  • Skilled at building relationships with clients, vendors, and community partners
  • Strong problem-solving and operational troubleshooting skills
  • Proficient with software for scheduling, inventory management, reporting, and data tracking
  • Passionate about supporting food entrepreneurs and fostering an inclusive community
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Job Duties

  • Oversee daily operations of NEON's commissary kitchen, ensuring a clean, safe, efficient, and fully compliant workspace
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to kitchen users, fostering a professional, collaborative, and inclusive environment
  • Develop, implement, and enforce kitchen policies, procedures, and safety protocols in alignment with State Health Department and City regulations while maintaining industry-best practices
  • Supervise the Assistant Kitchen Manager and any part-time staff, contractors, or volunteers, ensuring accountability and high performance
  • Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with kitchen members, vendors, and community partners to support a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem
  • Manage kitchen scheduling, membership agreements, and facility usage records
  • Monitor and manage inventory, equipment maintenance, and supply ordering to ensure smooth operations
  • Track kitchen utilization data, member progress, and operational metrics
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, and licensing requirements
  • Collaborate with NEON's Business Development team to support program goals, reporting, and strategic initiatives
  • Conduct onboarding sessions for new kitchen users, covering safety, sanitation, and equipment operation
  • Plan, facilitate, and support workshops, training sessions, and events related to food business development
  • Partner with NEON Business Advisors to connect kitchen users with technical assistance, mentorship, and business development opportunities
  • Assist with NEON community events, marketing efforts, and special projects as needed
  • Represent NEON at external events or meetings to promote the kitchen and NEON programs
