Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Relevant experience in kitchen management or food service
- Serve Safe certification
- Ability to train and supervise kitchen staff
- Competent in food safety and sanitation regulations
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Physical ability to perform duties including lifting, standing, walking, and handling kitchen equipment
- Willingness to work in varying temperature conditions and around kitchen machinery
- Ability to maintain accurate records and inventory
- Commitment to Opaa! core values and policies
- Ability to comply with federal, state, and local food service regulations and guidelines
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED, or relevant experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Effective communication in one-on-one and small group settings
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratio, and percent
- Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed instructions
- Ability to deal with standardized problem-solving situations
- Experience with kitchen tools and equipment including dishwasher, steamer/kettle, mixer, oven, stove, fryers, slicer, thermometers, gauges, knives, and box cutters
- Familiarity with meal counting software and office technology such as desktop PCs, calculators, telephones, fax, scanner, copier, and printer
- Serve Safe certification required, additional certifications may vary by state
Job Duties
- Monitor food and food preparation to maintain quality standards for preparation, presentation, and sanitation
- Promote customer service by investigating and resolving food quality and service complaints
- Coordinate the preparation and daily transportation of meals to satellite buildings
- Conduct daily safety and production meetings with kitchen staff
- Demonstrate and promote Opaa!'s Core Values
- Supervise kitchen staff and delegate workflow
- Train, cross-train and certify all kitchen job stations
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of kitchen and storage areas
- Maintain compliance with Opaa! recipes, menu plans, timekeeping policy, HACCP processes, HHFKA and CACFP Meal Patterns, safety regulations, and health department requirements
- Report unsafe conditions and discrepancies timely
- Coordinate and submit food and supply orders to Boss
- Ensure accurate production records and participation counts
- Oversee and input commercial/commodity inventory count
- Perform daily tray counts and reconcile with district reports
- Maintain communication with building principals
- Conduct daily and weekly meetings and actively participate in Kitchen Manager meetings
- Perform other assigned duties by Opaa! Food Management
