Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Relevant experience in kitchen management or foodservice preferred
- Serve Safe Certification
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
- Ability to perform basic math calculations
- Ability to supervise and train staff
- Physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently
- Availability to work in both indoor and outdoor kitchen environments
- Willingness to comply with all safety and health regulations
- Ability to use kitchen equipment and software such as ADP and Boss
- Willingness to work with diverse teams and maintain professional communication
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and write simple correspondence
- Effective communication skills for one-on-one and small group settings
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to follow written or oral instructions
- Serve Safe Certification
- Additional certifications as required by state
- Experience in supervising kitchen staff is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
Job Duties
- Monitor food and food preparation to maintain quality standards for preparation, presentation, and sanitation
- Promote customer service by investigating and resolving food quality and service complaints
- Coordinate the preparation and daily transportation of meals to all satellite buildings, where applicable
- Conduct daily safety and production meetings with kitchen staff
- Supervise kitchen staff in all areas of production and delegate workflow while reporting personnel issues
- Train, cross-train and certify all kitchen job stations and perform any required kitchen functions
- Maintain overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and storage areas
- Maintain compliance with Opaa! recipes and menu plans and obtain approval for menu changes
- Adhere strictly to Opaa! Food Management timekeeping policy and report discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with HACCP processes and procedures
- Maintain compliance with HHFKA and CACFP meal patterns
- Follow Opaa! safety processes, worker and health safety regulations, and state/local health department requirements
- Report unsafe conditions and safety incidents promptly
- Coordinate and submit food and supply orders to Boss
- Ensure complete and accurate daily production records by student grade groups
- Oversee and input commercial/commodity inventory counts into Boss while ensuring FIFO standards
- Verify product receipt accuracy and approve vendor invoices timely
- Enter participation counts into Boss daily
- Complete all required logs accurately and promptly
- Perform daily tray counts and reconcile with district reports to ensure reimbursable meals
- Maintain open communication with building principals and conduct weekly update meetings
- Organize daily meetings and use production board to plan service flow
- Attend and participate in weekly Kitchen Manager meetings with DNS
- Perform other duties as assigned by Opaa! Food Management
