Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of institutional kitchen experience including school food service
  • knowledge of quantity food production processes
  • proficiency in culinary skills and use of kitchen equipment
  • ability to manage and supervise a team of 5 or more staff members
  • current ServeSafe certification
  • ability to create and maintain production and sales records
  • commitment to maintaining kitchen safety and sanitation
  • willingness to participate in training sessions

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of institutional kitchen experience preferably in school food service
  • knowledge of quantity food production including recipe standardization, weights and measures conversions, culinary vocabulary, inventory, and purchasing
  • advanced culinary skills including knife skills and proper use of institutional kitchen equipment
  • ability to supervise a staff of 5 or more including scheduling and task assignment
  • current ServeSafe certification

Job Duties

  • Oversee the production of all student meals including breakfast and lunch
  • adhere to the daily menu selection as listed on the current month’s printed menu and clear any deviations with the Director
  • supervise production staff and assign daily tasks to ensure timely meal production and efficient use of staff skills
  • create and maintain accurate production records that comply with federal and state guidelines demonstrating adherence to meal pattern requirements
  • order food and supplies efficiently to minimize waste and ensure availability
  • create and maintain daily sales reports reflecting all revenue including reimbursable meals and pre-payments
  • maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment at all times observing all HACCP procedures
