Job Requirements

  • Completion and passing of fingerprint background check
  • Successfully complete Nutri-Serve Food Service Training and renewals as required
  • Food Manager certification required and renewals as required
  • Complete Child Abuse Prevention and Risk Management training, CPR, First Aid, AED, Food Handlers Certification and Bloodborne Pathogens within 30 days of hire
  • Adhere to association and position training requirements
  • Complete all required and recommended CACFP trainings including Civil Rights Training
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments

Job Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED and be at least 18 years of age
  • Kitchen Manager certification upon hire
  • At least 3 years experience as a cook
  • Training and experience in cooking for large groups of 100 or more
  • Ability to prepare food for special dietary needs such as eating disorders and diabetes
  • Knowledge of standard food preparation, serving, and kitchen procedures
  • CPR, First Aid, and Food Handlers certification upon hire
  • Valid driver's license and successful DMV driver check
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, write simple correspondence, and present information effectively
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • Licensing requires 15 hours of in-service training each year for child care staff
  • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily
  • Experience relating effectively to diverse social and economic groups

Job Duties

  • Operate the kitchen program and ensure CACFP-compliant meals are produced and served five days a week
  • Create menus, manage food and supply vendors, order food supplies, and meet regulatory standards
  • Oversee kitchen equipment, inventory, safety, and other standard regulations
  • Supervise and train kitchen assistants to produce meals and maintain cleanliness
  • Ensure kitchen staff meet training expectations, schedules, and safety standards
  • Assist in developing the CACFP program budget
  • Manage resources effectively within budgetary constraints
  • Submit receipts on all transactions timely
  • Ensure kitchen supplies and equipment are inventoried and maintained
  • Transport food to contract-approved sites as needed
  • Work at any location and adjust schedule according to association needs
  • Adhere to association and position training requirements
  • Participate in annual fundraising and membership growth
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager
