Job Requirements

  • Minimum five years in a school food service operation
  • Successful completion of school food service training courses
  • Two-year Associate Degree preferred in Hospitality Management, Dietetics, Nutrition, or related Food Service curriculum
  • Supervisory experience with 20 employees or more
  • Serv-Safe certification
  • Minimum two year experience with food ordering and inventory control
  • Computer literate with a minimum two year experience with a food service POS system
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Ability to communicate well at all levels including management, parents, staff and students
  • Ability to perform all tasks performed by kitchen staff
  • Good attendance and punctuality a must
  • Able to drive a 14' box truck van with chauffeur license

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum five years in a school food service operation

  • Experienced in food management including the ability to read and make adjustments on quantity cooking recipes and substitute products
  • Experienced user of commercial kitchen equipment
  • Create a positive work environment with staff
  • Capable of training employees on health, sanitation, and safety rules
  • Serv-Safe certified
  • Creative in the development of new food items and/or food concepts and ability to train employees
  • Minimum two year experience with food ordering and inventory control
  • Computer literate with a minimum two year experience with a food service POS system
  • Experience working in a union environment

  • Ability to perform all tasks performed by kitchen staff
  • Catering experience
  • Good attendance and punctuality a must

Job Duties

  • Manage the overall operation of the satellite kitchen
  • Manage all cafeteria workers and assign work duties
  • Assist in the hiring and training of new hires
  • Maintain food inventory and is responsible for all food ordering
  • Provide Assistant Cooks with food quantities to prepare daily and ensure conformance with recipe and appearance standards
  • Provide instruction to staff as directed by Food Director
  • Work with Food Director to maximize USDA commodities
  • Work some afternoon/evening caterings
  • Other duties assigned
