Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous cooking experience preferred
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to work weekends and holidays
- physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods
- ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain
- strong communication and leadership skills
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience as a cook in healthcare, hospitality, or a similar setting preferred
- knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and dietary requirements
- strong organizational and time management skills
- ability to lead a team with professionalism, kindness, and respect
- ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
- ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain (training assistance may be provided)
Job Duties
- Prepare meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines
- ensure all meals are appealing, properly portioned, and served on schedule
- accommodate resident preferences and special dietary needs as appropriate
- maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area throughout the shift
- follow all food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage, labeling, and temperature control
- maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including ServSafe requirements
- ensure kitchen equipment is cleaned, sanitized, and used safely
- monitor and document required kitchen logs (temperatures, cleaning records, etc.)
- provide clear direction and support to kitchen staff during assigned shifts
- assist with training new team members on procedures, safety, and resident-centered service
- collaborate with nursing, activities, and leadership teams to support resident needs
- promote a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
