Job Requirements

  • Comfortable working in a kitchen environment
  • able to follow recipes and measure ingredients accurately
  • able to operate knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
  • capable of delivering friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service
  • able to read, write, and perform simple math
  • able to interpret and follow instructions
  • effective communication skills with public and management
  • ability to interact with all levels of management
  • has or willing to obtain a CA Food Handler's Certificate
  • able to work evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • must be 18 or older to use sharp knives and operate machinery
  • able to use equipment such as slicer, scale, saw, knife, and wrapper
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar work environment preferred
  • experience as Line Cook, Prep Cook, or Deli Clerk preferred
  • possess or able to acquire a CA Food Handling license
  • able to lift up to 20 pounds
  • aware of safety hazards and able to work with hands in contact with food items

Job Duties

  • Processing, cutting, and wrapping Delica items
  • maintains a well-organized back stock/cooler area
  • packaging food products
  • cook hot meals including sushi, deli, bakery, and Japanese food
  • food preparation following recipes and accurately measuring ingredients
  • maintaining communication with store management, associates, and suppliers/vendors
  • maintaining cleanliness and store upkeep
  • ensuring proper presentation of Delica items and assisting customers
  • handling, stocking, rotating and merchandising Delica items
  • checking product temperatures to ensure freshness and quality
  • maintaining knife grip for meat cutting
  • weighing, pricing, labeling, organizing, and rotating meat products
  • unloading meat and deli items upon deliveries
  • operating pallet jack, scissor lift, baler, compactor, and scrub machine
  • unpacking and stocking Delica and sushi items
  • cleaning and sanitizing work areas
  • providing premier customer service including greeting and responding to customers
  • engaging in suggestive selling and sales techniques
  • meeting or exceeding department sales goals
  • maintaining a safe and clean work environment
  • cross-training and teamwork across departments
