Job Requirements

  • Food handlers permit required
  • 1+ year in kitchen experience preferred
  • Experience in cooking for a mass population preferred
  • Experience in working with and knowledge of vulnerable populations is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of kitchen health and safety regulations
  • Ability to work well in a stressful and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict management abilities
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Participate in the food preparation and cooking process
  • Assist Kitchen Manager to monitor inventory levels and perform weekly inventory assessments
  • Ensure the organization and sanitation of the kitchen, serving area, and dining room
  • Receive and store all food products in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Ensure food security and proper security of potentially harmful equipment and chemicals
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and inventory of freezers/refrigerators and pantry storage
  • Follow a monthly menu created by the Kitchen Manager
  • Receive feedback on food from the population served and assist in adapting the menu
  • Ensure food service-related equipment is kept in good working order and is regularly maintained
  • Know their population being served
  • Assist the Kitchen Manager in other duties as needed
