Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma
  • 2 to 3 years culinary or institutional food service experience
  • Completion of Certified Professional Food Handlers Program
  • CPR certification
  • First Aid certification
  • Annual Tuberculosis test
  • Clearance in pre-employment drug testing and criminal records checks
  • Ability to follow directions work cooperatively and provide minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion
  • Ability to manage time and tasks
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform required duties
  • Ability to work under stress and emotionally charged settings
  • Understanding of federal state and local confidentiality rules and professional standards
  • Positive attitude and good attendance record

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of Certified Professional Food Handlers Program
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma

  • Knowledge of commercial food equipment appliances and tools
  • Ability to follow directions and work cooperatively
  • Understanding of health safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to plan menus prepare and serve food
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion
  • Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and consumers
  • Knowledge of HIPAA professional ethics consumer rights and confidentiality
  • Familiarity with WestCare services and programs
  • Demonstrated dependability and good attendance record

Job Duties

  • Schedule and receive food and beverage deliveries checking delivery contents to verify product quality and quantity
  • Prepare and serve meals on designated hot food days
  • Monitor and maintain food pantry and prepare food pantry bags for distribution to program participants
  • Assist with general cleanliness of facility including kitchen and pantry areas
  • Plan menus based on anticipated number of guests nutritional value palatability popularity and costs
  • Maintain food and equipment inventories and keep inventory records
  • Monitor compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation serving and building maintenance
  • Provide role modeling in communication and interaction with consumers and peers
  • Complete orientation and mandated training activities including E-Learning courses within required timeframes
  • Embrace and embody the mission vision and goals of WestCare Foundation
  • Perform other duties as assigned
