Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma
  • completion of Certified Professional Food Handlers Program
  • 2 to 3 years culinary or institutional food service experience
  • CPR certification
  • first aid certification
  • annual tuberculosis test
  • clearance in pre-employment drug testing and criminal records checks
  • bilingual preferred
  • ability to follow directions and work cooperatively
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to exercise good judgment and discretion
  • knowledge of federal, state, local and agency confidentiality rules
  • ability to maintain safe working environment
  • sufficient mobility
  • understanding of professional ethics and consumer rights

Job Duties

  • Schedule and receive food and beverage deliveries, checking delivery contents to verify product quality and quantity
  • prepare and serve meals on designated hot food days
  • monitor and maintain food pantry
  • prepare food pantry bags for distribution
  • assist with general cleanliness of facility
  • plan menus based on number of guests, nutritional value, palatability, popularity, and costs
  • maintain food and equipment inventories and keep inventory records
  • review work procedures and operational problems to improve service, performance, and safety
  • keep records required by government agencies regarding sanitation and food subsidies
  • ensure economical use of food and timely preparation
  • monitor compliance with health and fire regulations
  • maintain and rotate kitchen inventory regularly
  • provide role modeling in communication and interaction with consumers and peers
  • complete all orientation and mandated training activities
  • embrace and embody the mission, vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation
  • perform other duties as assigned
