Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to attend staff orientations and commit to full-time summer season from mid-May to mid-August
- Ability to work in a hectic and sometimes stressful environment while maintaining care standards
- Physical ability to walk up to two miles daily, use stairs, stand, sit, run, swim, and occasionally lift or body block campers
- Compliance with JCC employment requirements including background screening and documentation
- Availability to work in shoulder seasons as needed
- Must be able to live at camp or provide full-time kitchen coverage during season
Job Qualifications
- Willingness to take on varied tasks across different camp areas and work collaboratively
- Ability to carefully organize, label, and handle camper items in kitchen and laundry settings
- Satisfactory completion of employment screening requirements including background checks and references
- High-energy, enthusiastic, creative, and open-minded
- Food handler certification or willingness to obtain
- Familiarity with kosher and allergen protocols with training provided
- Previous experience in food service, housekeeping, or laundry work preferred
Job Duties
- Assist with meal prep including washing, peeling, chopping, and organizing ingredients
- Prepare the dining hall before each meal by setting up tables, dishes, cutlery, and beverage areas
- Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment maintaining health standards
- Follow kosher and allergen compliance in food preparation and serving
- Wash, dry, and fold camper laundry and camp linens
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry room and stock supplies
- Ensure bathrooms and hand washing stations are stocked and clean
- Identify and report hazards in laundry and camp areas
- Assist with other duties as assigned including supporting camp events and programs
