Job Requirements

  • Must be able to attend staff orientations and live at camp or be available for full-time kitchen coverage from mid-May to mid-August
  • must have operative auditory and visual functioning
  • able to walk up to two miles daily including use of stairs and uneven terrain
  • able to stand, sit, run, and swim
  • able to lift or body block campers when necessary
  • able to work in indoor loud spaces and extended outdoor sun exposure
  • able to maintain standard of care in hectic and stressful environments

Job Qualifications

  • Willingness to take on varied tasks across different camp areas and work collaboratively
  • ability to carefully organize, label, and handle camper items in both kitchen and laundry settings
  • satisfactorily fulfill employment requirements including background screening, three references, documentation, and compliance with CDHS law
  • high-energy, enthusiastic, creative, and open-minded attitude
  • food handler certification or willingness to obtain
  • familiarity with kosher and allergen protocols with training provided
  • previous experience in food service, housekeeping, or laundry work preferred

Job Duties

  • Assist with meal prep including washing, peeling, chopping, and organizing ingredients
  • prepare the dining hall before each meal by setting up tables, dishes, cutlery, napkins, condiment stations, and beverage areas
  • clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment following health regulations
  • follow kosher and allergen compliance policies ensuring safe food handling and serving practices
  • wash, dry, and fold camper laundry, camp linens, and other washable items returning them neatly organized
  • maintain cleanliness, organization, and inventory in the laundry room
  • stock bathrooms and hand washing stations in the dining hall with essential supplies and maintain cleanliness
  • identify and report hazards or dangerous situations in the laundry and camp areas
  • perform other duties as assigned to support camp programs and events
