Job Requirements

  • must be able to attend staff orientations and be available to live at camp or provide full-time kitchen coverage from mid-May to mid-August
  • must be high-energy, enthusiastic, creative, and open-minded
  • ability to walk up to 2 miles per day including stairs and uneven terrain
  • ability to stand, sit, run, swim, and lift or body block campers when necessary
  • ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments including loud spaces and under the sun
  • willingness to take on varied tasks and work collaboratively
  • ability to organize and handle items carefully
  • satisfactorily meet employment screening and documentation requirements at the Staenberg-Loup JCC

Job Qualifications

  • willingness to take on varied tasks across different camp areas and work collaboratively
  • ability to carefully organize, label, and handle camper items in both kitchen and laundry settings
  • satisfactorily fulfill employment requirements including background screening, references, and documentation
  • high-energy, enthusiastic, creative, and open-minded
  • food handler certification preferred or willingness to obtain
  • familiarity with kosher and allergen protocols preferred
  • previous experience in food service, housekeeping, or laundry preferred

Job Duties

  • assist with meal prep including washing, peeling, chopping, and organizing ingredients
  • prepare dining hall before meals by setting up tables, dishes, cutlery, napkins, condiments, and beverages
  • clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment maintaining health standards
  • follow kosher and allergen management policies ensuring safe food handling
  • wash, dry, fold camper laundry and camp linens ensuring organization
  • maintain cleanliness and stocking of laundry room and dining hall bathrooms including essential supplies
  • identify and report hazards in laundry and camp areas to facilities or director team
