Job Requirements

  • GED or high school diploma
  • At least 1 year experience in food service
  • Ability to follow directions and collaborate with team members
  • Current or ability to obtain food handler’s card within 30 days
  • Effective time management
  • Competency in operating kitchen equipment
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including weekends
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong communication skills in oral and written form
  • Ability to keep accurate records

Job Qualifications

  • At least 1 year experience working in a food service setting
  • Ability to follow directions and work cooperatively with others
  • Possession of current food handler’s card or ability to obtain within 30 days of placement
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment proficiently
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends
  • Reliable transportation to work
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and communicate effectively in oral and written form

Job Duties

  • Assist in the preparation of appropriate foods, hot or cold, in a timely fashion according to pre-planned menu cycle
  • Assist in the serving of meals and dishing of the meals on wheels containers
  • Ensure the dining area supplies are stocked and that the beverage stations are maintained according to dietary standards
  • Meet time frames with respect to production
  • Gather food items according to production sheets and begin preparing according to direction, assist as directed in preparation of salads, desserts, and sandwich items
  • Assure all foods are stored in a safe and sanitary manner, including dates and labeling of usable food items for future use
  • Use appropriate chemicals for cleaning and sanitation
  • Wash pots and pans using the three-pot sink method and operate commercial dishwasher safely for cleaning and sanitizing dinnerware and utensils
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment used daily and keep entire area neat and clean
  • Sweep and mop floors as directed
  • Assist in receiving and storage of food and supplies
  • Report equipment failures, breakages, or other kitchen/dining area issues to Food Service Manager promptly
  • Notify supervisor on duty of any stock level problems or food spoilage concerns
  • Participate and/or attend department meetings, trainings, and other functions as assigned
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Food Service Manager and/or Lead Cook on duty
