Job Requirements
- minimum of 3 years sous chef experience
- minimum of 5 years kitchen experience
- culinary degree preferred
- strong culinary fundamentals knowledge
- excellent communication skills
- ability to supervise, train, and motivate employees
- compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- ability to assess and evaluate team performance
- basic revenue management skills
- ability to work standing or walking for up to 8 hours
- ability to operate in a fast-paced team leadership role
- capability to handle administrative duties
Job Qualifications
- minimum of 3 years of sous chef experience
- at least 5 years of kitchen experience
- culinary degree preferred
- extensive knowledge of culinary fundamentals including knife skills, butchery, sauces, and all kitchen stations
- experience in quick-service restaurant (QSR) environments highly desirable
- strong communication skills both verbal and written
- ability to lead and motivate a team
- knowledge of food industry trends and competitive market dynamics
- ability to evaluate employee performance fairly and consistently
- basic knowledge of revenue management
- previous experience in setting short- and long-term financial and operational goals
- some administrative and leadership experience
Job Duties
- lead and manage all restaurant operations under the leadership of the Head Chef to ensure a world-class culinary experience
- develop innovative and authentic menus in collaboration with the Head Chef
- educate and coach the culinary team on regional history, culture, cuisine, industry trends, and environmentally friendly practices
- perform line checks and enforce menu execution standards consistently
- be actively present during peak service times, press events, and festival periods
- provide ongoing performance feedback and develop future restaurant leaders
- lead hiring, training, and recruiting efforts to maintain top-tier talent
- communicate and exemplify Jose Andres Group's vision and culture to team members, guests, vendors, and community
- enforce health, safety, and sanitation standards strictly and manage compliance with all relevant laws
- maintain operational efficiency by managing labor, inventory, waste, and budgeting
- coordinate communication between shifts through logs and regular team meetings
- promptly address and communicate facility or operational emergencies
- collaborate with home office support staff in finance, marketing, and events to meet business and culinary standards
