Job Requirements
- Minimum age 18
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in food service or related field
- Completion of food safety and sanitation training
- Training in equipment operation, cleaning, and maintenance
- Ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform detailed and precise tasks
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physical ability to perform department-specific demands such as constant reaching and grasping, frequent standing and walking, occasional lifting up to 55 lbs
- Willingness to work under various temperature and noise conditions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of relevant experience in food service or retail
- Completion of food safety and sanitation training
- Training on equipment operation, cleaning, and maintenance
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in use of computer systems and equipment such as PC, symbol scanners, scales, and label machines

Job Duties
- Proactively provides superior customer service
- Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- Answers customer questions regarding products
- Assists them with selections
- Works independently with minimal supervision
- Applies expertise to prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively
- Focuses on inspecting for quality
- Slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
- Assists in technical areas as needed such as setup, cleanup, operation of specialized equipment like Tortilleria
- Uses advanced selling techniques and product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- Cleans and sanitizes display cases
- Operates and maintains all equipment properly
- Complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- Follows department and store operating procedures
- Records production and shrink to aid in production planning (Bakery)
- Assists in baking, frying, decorating (Bakery)
- Ensures service counter customers are greeted and taken care of promptly (Deli)
- Manages Make Ready application for e-Commerce orders (Deli)
- Uses Fresh Production Planner and performs inventory management processes
- Trains other Partners
- Prepares catering orders if applicable
- Provides product demos and education to customers
- Ensures sanitation and maintenance of equipment such as deli slicers
- Serves and packages products upon customer request (Prepared Foods)
- Educates customers on preparation and reheating instructions
- Prepackages condiments
- Cuts, slices, dices, and chops food in preparation for chefs
