Job Requirements
- Minimum age 18
- high school diploma or equivalent
- completion of company orientation
- completion of food safety and sanitation training upon hire
- ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
- ability to work with customers attentively
- ability to lift up to 55 lbs and manage weights over 65 lbs depending on department
- compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
- strong communication skills
- basic computer literacy

Job Duties
- Provides superior customer service
- takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answers customer questions regarding products
- assists them with selections
- prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
- slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
- assists in technical areas as needed (e.g., basic set-up and clean-up processes)
- uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- cleans and sanitizes display cases
- operates and maintains equipment properly
- complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- complies with department/store operating procedures
- records production and shrink to aid in production planning (bakery specific)
- takes care of service counter customers (deli specific)
- uses ordering system applications (deli specific)
- performs inventory management processes (deli specific)
- ensures catering orders are prepared and ready for customer pickup (deli specific)
- performs all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers (deli specific)
- serves/packages products at customer request (prepared foods specific)
- educates customers on preparation/reheating instructions of prepared foods (prepared foods specific)
- prepackages condiments for prepared food items (prepared foods specific)
- cuts, slices, dices, chops food in preparation for chef (prepared foods specific)
