Job Requirements

  • Completion of a four-year college degree program or equivalent
  • One to three years related work experience in banquet/catering services
  • Knowledge of proper meal service techniques and special event handling
  • Understanding of food sanitation, safety procedures, and alcohol service regulations
  • Valid chauffeur or commercial driver's license with endorsements and medical certificate
  • Good driving record and submission of driver's license for motor vehicle check
  • Availability to work variable schedules and report during emergencies as required

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in hotel, restaurant, institutional management, general business or related field
  • One to three years of progressively responsible experience in banquet/catering or related service
  • Knowledge of meal service techniques and protocols
  • Understanding of food sanitation and safety procedures
  • Ability to apply Michigan state regulations for alcoholic beverage service
  • Experience in cost control and menu planning
  • Possession of a valid chauffeur or commercial driver's license with endorsements

Job Duties

  • Manage and coordinate events for Kellogg Center and campus locations including athletic venues
  • Oversee food service and event set-up to ensure high quality service
  • Prepare billing for all events
  • Develop and implement training programs for event staff
  • Instruct and assist event staff in meal and beverage service procedures
  • Coordinate event details with kitchen staff to ensure smooth timing
  • Manage food and beverage supplies, equipment, and labor costs
