Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age if working full-time
  • must be free of all communicable diseases
  • must have ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, stretch, crawl, crouch, kneel, balance, finger, grasp, push, pull, reach, or walk
  • must be able to lift and carry weights between 35 to 50 pounds
  • must exert force to draw, drag or tug objects in sustained motion
  • must be able to operate housekeeping and laundry equipment safely
  • must comply with company policies regarding COVID-19 vaccination
  • ability to maintain alertness to resident safety at all times

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a similar working environment is preferred but not required
  • ability to understand, observe, and enforce infection control procedures
  • ability to observe all facility safety policies and procedures
  • ability to recognize potential physical, chemical, and electrical hazards and take corrective action
  • ability to enforce the Exposure Control Plan
  • ability to safeguard the privacy of residents’ health information
  • ability to speak and read English
  • ability to follow oral and written directions
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, residents, and staff
  • ability to perform duties as directed
  • willingness to attend staff meetings, in-service classes, and committee meetings

Job Duties

  • Observe waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy
  • empty wastebaskets and transport trash to disposal areas
  • assist in the proper care and use of housekeeping equipment
  • identify and report any malfunctioning equipment to supervisor
  • identify safety hazards and emergency situations
  • report any observed area in poor repair to supervisor
  • keep storage areas and wheeled carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy
  • carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies using wheeled carts
  • replenish supplies such as soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and other housekeeping supplies
  • make any necessary linen changes
  • prevent the spread of infection through proper handling, storage, washing, and transporting of all garments and linens
  • operate, load, and remove articles into washers and dryers
  • operate an automated laundry solution dispensing system
  • place garments and linens in drum of washer
  • correctly adjust water temperature and wash cycle
  • transfer clothes from washer to dryer
  • clean machine filters
  • sort and remove articles from washers and dryers
  • hang, fold, and stack garments and linens
  • distribute clothes to resident’s rooms without error
  • return clean linen to linen closets and mobile racks
  • report any garments or linens in ill repair to social services
  • work cooperatively with residents, families, volunteers, visitors, and staff
  • comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations
  • operate computers programmed with software needed to record, store, and analyze resident information
  • operate copy/fax/printer machines to send documents and produce documents
  • perform other related duties as directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor
