Job Requirements

  • At least 16 years of age for full-time position
  • free of communicable diseases
  • ability to stand, stoop, crouch, kneel, balance, finger, grasp, push, pull, reach, walk
  • ability to lift and carry 35 to 50 pounds
  • availability to work weekend shifts
  • comply with COVID-19 vaccination policy
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • ability to safeguard residents’ health information
  • willingness to perform assigned duties
  • able to work any shift as directed

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a similar working environment preferred
  • current Food Handlers certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
  • ability to prepare therapeutic and mechanically altered diets
  • knowledge of food safety regulations
  • ability to perform simple arithmetic and measurement conversions
  • ability to work under changing conditions and adapt
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • ability to maintain effective working relationships
  • ability to attend staff and in-service meetings
  • basic computer skills

Job Duties

  • Inspect and clean food preparation areas to ensure safe food-handling practices
  • ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperatures
  • check freshness and rotate stock to avoid food waste
  • weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • wash, peel, and cut various foods
  • test foods for doneness and cook according to menus and dietary restrictions
  • portion, arrange, garnish, and serve food
  • meet meal schedules and requirements
  • assist in clearing tables and washing dishes
  • assist servers in delivering food
  • comply with all relevant policies and regulations
  • operate computers to record meal information
  • perform other duties as directed
