Job Duties

  • Report changes in the elder's condition to a supervisor or nurse
  • Responsible for administering medications as scheduled as well as ordering them in a timely manner
  • Assist elder with activities of daily living according to the Negotiated Service Agreement and/or Level of Care
  • Attend department meetings as scheduled or needed, to discuss elder's needs and progress in identifying and correcting problems
  • Report accidents and incidents when they occur
  • Assist with and/or perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as outlined by the Service Plan
  • Observe standard precautions per Household policy
  • Measure and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, height, anatomical dimension/circumference
  • Report any resident abuse or suspected abuse to the supervisor or nurse immediately
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of elder care, procedure, and documentation
  • Clean and maintain the environment of the household
  • Serve and clean up after meals and snacks
  • Make beds and change bed linens
  • Work with security to assure that elders emergency call systems are working at all times
  • Communicate with co-workers at all levels to adequately meet the needs of elders
  • Assist with psychosocial programming to ensure both physical and cognitive stimulation in a social setting on campus and off
  • Provide opportunities for ongoing social events both on campus and in the community
  • Attend and participate in orientation programs, ongoing training and educational classes
