Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- related experience in culinary or kitchen operations preferred
- serve safe certification or similar preferred
- ability to routinely push or lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move over 50 pounds
- willingness to work first shift hours including weekends
- ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily
Job Qualifications
- previous culinary experience of at least one year in a similar volume restaurant or banquet kitchen with proven successful results
- able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised
- willing to follow directions and ask questions for clarification if needed
- display safe knife skills and basic kitchen equipment handling skills
- some experience in stock, soup, sauce or dressing making preferred
- ability to maintain calm and professional demeanor during crises
- exceptional attendance and compliance with company standards
Job Duties
- use a variety of cooking methods including poaching, braising, charbroiling, searing and frying
- follow recipes and presentation techniques in adherence to JW Marriott brand and hotel standards
- complete kitchen prep lists and follow setup and breakdown procedures for cooking stations
- maintain safe food handling techniques and sanitary service areas
- accept or reject ingredients based on quality or quantity
- minimize waste of product
- communicate product needs or equipment issues to chefs or supervisors
