Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • related experience in culinary or kitchen operations preferred
  • serve safe certification or similar preferred
  • ability to routinely push or lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move over 50 pounds
  • willingness to work first shift hours including weekends
  • ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily

Job Qualifications

  • previous culinary experience of at least one year in a similar volume restaurant or banquet kitchen with proven successful results
  • able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised
  • willing to follow directions and ask questions for clarification if needed
  • display safe knife skills and basic kitchen equipment handling skills
  • some experience in stock, soup, sauce or dressing making preferred
  • ability to maintain calm and professional demeanor during crises
  • exceptional attendance and compliance with company standards

Job Duties

  • use a variety of cooking methods including poaching, braising, charbroiling, searing and frying
  • follow recipes and presentation techniques in adherence to JW Marriott brand and hotel standards
  • complete kitchen prep lists and follow setup and breakdown procedures for cooking stations
  • maintain safe food handling techniques and sanitary service areas
  • accept or reject ingredients based on quality or quantity
  • minimize waste of product
  • communicate product needs or equipment issues to chefs or supervisors
