Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous culinary experience of at least one year in a similar volume restaurant or banquet kitchen
  • serve safe certification preferred
  • strong ability to work in a team environment
  • ability to multitask and solve problems quickly
  • effective communication skills
  • knowledge of knife skills and kitchen equipment use
  • understanding of batch cookery
  • ability to follow corporate recipes and standards
  • knowledge of cleaning techniques and chemical handling
  • leadership skills to motivate and develop staff

Job Qualifications

  • Previous culinary experience of at least one year in a similar volume restaurant or banquet kitchen with proven successful results
  • serve safe certification is preferred
  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • related experience is preferred
  • strong ability to work in team environment
  • effective multitasking and problem-solving skills
  • excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • knowledge of safe handling knife skills and basic kitchen equipment
  • understanding of batch cookery and ability to follow corporate recipes and standards
  • knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and chemical handling
  • strong leadership skills to motivate and develop staff
  • computer literate with ability to create spreadsheets and reports
  • ability to maintain calm and professional demeanor in crisis
  • flexible with schedule and able to work different shifts

Job Duties

  • Oversees and leads a team of culinarians responsible for the restaurant and the quality of food and kitchen cleanliness
  • functions as sous chef in absence of sous chef
  • conducts daily meetings with kitchen staff to discuss organization and resolve operational concerns
  • prepares and follows up on action plans related to culinary and stewarding issues
  • enforces product quality and kitchen cleanliness standards
  • oversees requisitioning, receiving, and storage of food products ensuring company specifications
  • coordinates scheduling needs and kitchen setup with the chef
  • ensures compliance with health department sanitation requirements and maintains necessary logs and checklists
