Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum one year culinary experience in a banquet or high-volume restaurant kitchen
  • Ability to read and follow recipes independently
  • Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work weekends and flexible shifts
  • Capable of standing and working for extended periods
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
  • Must adhere to company attendance and uniform policies
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to company standards
  • Serve Safe certification preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Previous culinary experience of at least one year in a similar volume restaurant or banquet kitchen with proven successful results
  • Must be able to read and follow recipes unsupervised
  • Willingness to follow directions and ask questions for clarification
  • Demonstrated safe knife handling skills and basic kitchen equipment proficiency including ovens, fryers, mixers, slicers, range-tops, blenders, and char broilers
  • Experience in stock, soup, sauce or dressing making and basic meat and fish fabrication preferred
  • Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor during high-pressure situations
  • Capable of performing all essential duties satisfactorily
  • Serve Safe certification or similar preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Related culinary experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Assist the banquet kitchen with daily prep of hot and cold food
  • Prepare, set up, and serve meals in the employee cafeteria and 3rd shift staff meal
  • Display foods with proper presentation of meats and vegetables
  • Follow quality standards for meats, vegetables, fruits, dairy products, and grains including proper storage
  • Understand and apply seasonings for diverse cultural cuisines and knowledge of food allergens
  • Read and understand banquet event orders accurately
  • Maintain strong organization, quality, and cleanliness standards
  • Attend departmental meetings and daily rehearsals
  • Follow company policies and operating procedures
  • Provide exceptional guest service and support
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met at all times
  • Accept or reject ingredients based on quality and quantity
  • Minimize food waste
  • Complete daily cleaning and prep checklists
  • Communicate product needs and equipment repairs promptly
  • Follow JW Marriott brand and QA standards
  • Work collaboratively with department staff and maintain a team-focused attitude
  • Perform additional duties as requested by management
