Job Requirements
- high school diploma or GED equivalent
- two years of experience working with juveniles in group, community or educational settings or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- must pass ergo metrics testing
- must pass thorough background investigation
- must have valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- must maintain physical fitness to meet department standards

- knowledge of behavior management concepts and best practices in juvenile delinquency, substance abuse and mental health
- knowledge of non-physical crisis intervention techniques
- knowledge of youth treatment and safety standards
- knowledge of sheriff's and juvenile services center policies
- knowledge of Wyoming criminal justice and court systems
- knowledge of hazardous materials, fire safety, first aid and CPR
- skill in remaining alert and responding calmly to emergencies
- skill in diplomacy, fairness, firmness and sound judgment
- skill in interpreting laws and regulations
- skill in constructive discipline and setting clear expectations
- skill in modeling positive behaviors
- skill in identifying teachable moments
- skill in cultural sensitivity and communication

Job Duties
- maintains safety and security of staff, youth, visitors and facilities
- provides supervision, monitoring and direction while demonstrating positive role modeling to youth during daily activities
- promotes a supportive, corrective and therapeutic environment to enhance emotional and physical development
- provides leadership to youth through disciplinary actions and supports educational initiatives
- explains agency rules, regulations, policies and procedures to new residents
- provides non-physical intervention skills in crisis situations
- coordinates, supervises and motivates youth during daily activities and program participation
- supports educational department in assisting youth with assignments
- coordinates youth access to emotional and developmental services
- provides constant visual supervision of youth
- greets visitors positively
- updates and maintains records, event logs and reports
- assists with coordination among departments, outside organizations and law enforcement
- manages radio communications
- safely transports youth to appointments and activities
- facilitates youth participation in enrichment and community events
- supports youth medical care including CPR/first aid
- promptly responds to crisis situations
- performs physical inspections frequently
- enforces compliance with policies and regulations
- performs other duties as assigned
