Job Description

Gilmer County Board of Education, located in Glenville, West Virginia, is committed to fostering educational programs that enrich students' understanding and appreciation of regional culture and arts. The Board supports initiatives that engage students in the vibrant traditions of central West Virginia, aiming to preserve and promote local heritage through music education. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • liaison between student, instructor, family, school, in, and JAM council
  • be available weekly for the JAM instructional session with the JAM instructor
  • coordinate and attend JAM events with the instructor and local stakeholders
  • maintain the instrument and inventory
  • maintain instrument conditions, including sending instruments for repair and purchasing new instruments
  • partner with local organizations and fundraise for JAM events and field experiences
  • provide student transportation in a county van to and from events
  • create promotional event materials and promote all JAM events
  • survey and recruit students yearly for JAM programming
  • coordinate and chaperone all field trip events
  • coordinating master class concert series, square dances, and student concert events
  • coordinate a minimum of two twelve-week after-school instructional sessions of JAM instruction per year
  • be an active member of the JAM council
  • attend JAM professional development
  • reward students for milestones and participation in the JAM program
  • coordinate overall programming
  • maintain a JAM handbook and student discipline
  • maintain student roster and recruitment processes for JAM
  • future programming will be based on district funding and student participation numbers of more than ten active participants
