Job Requirements
- GED or high school diploma
- Illinois Food Handlers License obtained within 30 days of employment
- Previous high-volume institutional or commercial food service experience
- Skilled in food handling, cooking utensils, and food processing equipment safety
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move objects weighing at least 50 pounds
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and adapt to kitchen environments with varying temperatures
- Basic arithmetic knowledge
- Effective communication skills in English
- United States citizenship
- At least 21 years of age at application
- Illinois residency within 90 days of hire
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check including LEADS, CANTS, and professional references
- Negative result from Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Child Abuse Registry
- Open availability for two of the standard shifts including weekends and holidays
- Pass Prison Rape Elimination Act screening requirements
Job Qualifications
- GED or high school diploma

- Skilled in safety, sanitary, and effective handling of food and kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic

- Knowledge of group dynamics and ability to work cooperatively with coworkers

Job Duties
- Review daily menus and meal counts and ensure necessary food items are stocked and fresh
- Prepare food items by washing, peeling, chopping, dicing, and seeding
- Follow standard recipes to prepare cold items including salads, sandwiches, desserts, and beverages
- Utilize various kitchen utensils, appliances, and heavy equipment in food preparation
- Pack lunches for residents and staff in courtrooms
- Load and transport food carts to and from designated floor units and school area
- Follow kitchen sanitation standards by cleaning floors, food carts, kitchen utensils, and equipment
- Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
- Complete production logs for meal tracking
- Assist in maintaining proper inventory levels
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Participate in special events and catering as needed
