Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a commercial kitchen, preferably in a high-volume 5-star restaurant or hotel
  • Knowledge of food health and safety regulations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to supervise and train kitchen staff
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of commercial kitchen experience in a high-volume 5-star restaurant or hotel setting preferred
  • Detail-oriented and accurate with strong organizational abilities
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Competency in dealing with members and employees diplomatically

Job Duties

  • Support Jr Sous Chefs, Sous Chefs and Executive Chef in a busy kitchen delivering high-quality food
  • Manage specific duties on the Ala Carte line of the kitchen
  • Comply with Food Health and Safety regulations and sanitation policies
  • Work well under high-pressure situations
  • Evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation practices in the kitchen
  • Follow proper food handling, holding, reheating and cooling procedures
  • Be present in the kitchen and assigned station when required
  • Follow instructions from immediate supervisors to complete daily tasks
  • Take care of daily prep and assigned duties to meet restaurant standards
  • Be proficient in all stations of the Ala Carte line
  • Coordinate daily tasks with the Sous Chef
  • Handle workplace problems effectively
  • Supervise and support Chef de Partie and Commis chefs
  • Produce work according to deadlines and assist others
  • Estimate daily production needs
  • Ensure high quality of production, preparation and presentation of food
  • Have full awareness of menu items, recipes, methods and presentation standards
  • Operate and maintain kitchen line equipment and report malfunctions
  • Prepare employee reviews
  • Minimize spoilage, waste and overproduction
  • Maintain effective communication and friendly work environment
  • Establish inter-departmental relationships
  • Contribute to menu creation while maintaining food cost and quality
  • Check station standards including labels, dates and storage
  • Consult with Sous Chef and Executive Chef on daily requirements, service and events
  • Guide and train subordinates daily
  • Perform spot checks for menu accuracy and taste
  • Organize schedules and direct kitchen staff for fast and effective operations
  • Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor
  • Provide daily feedback and report issues
