Job Requirements

  • Active Management Level Food Handlers' Certification (ServSafe)
  • Adhere to local food handler requirements
  • Consistently perform duties responsibly and efficiently
  • 3-5 years of kitchen management in full-service, moderate to high volume restaurant or equivalent
  • Demonstrated success in previous culinary roles
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high noise, and changing environments
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs with assistance over 40 lbs
  • Good or corrective vision
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and twisting
  • Ability to work safely around hot surfaces and chemicals
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Strong culinary skills
  • Leadership skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to understand and speak Spanish is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to safely handle kitchen equipment
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Professional appearance
  • High sense of urgency
  • Experience working with union employees
  • Ability to delegate and hold others accountable
  • Knowledge of kitchen layout and equipment usage

Job Duties

  • Responsible for achieving company objectives and goals
  • Foster and promote the Flagship brand and values within the client’s culinary culture
  • Promote and ensure that all staff is adhering to Flagship’s safety culture
  • Maintain a safe working environment by using food handling skills and proper food safety guidelines
  • Develop and maintain an employee engagement program based on Flagship core values
  • Partner with upper management and HR for guidance on corrective actions, reviews, and employee issues
  • Consistently meet company Key Performance Indicators such as safety, staffing levels, and attrition
  • Follow standard operation procedures set by the company
  • Manage assigned staff including scheduling, time clock activity, and performance
  • Communicate job expectations to hourly employees and monitor, appraise job results
  • Coach, counsel, discipline employees
  • Develop and enforce systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards
  • Seek opportunities to improve the customer experience
  • Encourage mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
  • Work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Serve as a role model demonstrating appropriate behaviors
  • Manage food production according to recipes and directions
  • Set, manage, and follow up on prep and production goals
  • Maintain food quality standards
  • Oversee all phases of food procurement, production, and service including inventory and ordering
  • Conduct daily line checks, food reviews, and recipes of the day
  • Provide clear feedback to the kitchen team
  • Ensure cleanliness and pass Health Department audits
  • Prepare food items consistently with portion sizes and quality standards
  • Interview new team members considering Flagship values and culture
  • Perform other assigned duties
