Job Requirements

  • must have and maintain an active Servsafe Food Handlers Card as required by the Chicago Health Department
  • authorized to work in the U.S.
  • ability to lift 10-50 pounds
  • able to stand, walk, bend, twist, and balance for extended periods
  • ability to perform repetitive hand motions
  • good close vision
  • able to move throughout the café and kitchen
  • professional appearance

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED
  • culinary or baking degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years' experience in a high volume from scratch bakery or operation
  • excellent baking skills
  • knowledge of international desserts
  • excellent verbal communication skills
  • excellent multi-tasking skills
  • excellent customer service skills
  • strong attention to detail
  • knowledge of safety and sanitation in the workplace

Job Duties

  • responsible for daily and weekly pastry and dessert production
  • supervise a small team
  • write and research international pastry recipes and menus
  • set up station according to kitchen guidelines
  • prepare all food items directed in a sanitary and timely manner
  • prepare food items consistently by adhering to all recipe standards
  • maintain a safe working environment by using food handling skills and proper food safety guidelines
