Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • satisfactory background clearance including fingerprinting
  • proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • completion of PDA training for diabetics
  • one year related healthcare work experience preferred
  • pass math and written language basic skills test
  • current CPR and first aid cards
  • annual HIV/AIDS training
  • maintain medication administration competency
  • driver’s abstract may be required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • current CPR and first aid certification
  • medication administration competency training completed
  • good communication and organizational skills
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • experience working with children preferred
  • basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics
  • ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • familiarity with health and safety protocols
  • ability to work cooperatively as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Receive students in the health room and provide appropriate care for illnesses, injuries, and emergencies
  • administer medication as trained and delegated by district nurse
  • receive, catalog, and secure medications
  • assist with student health screening appraisals and re-screenings
  • contact parents or guardians regarding student health history and follow-up
  • prepare and maintain student health records and reports
  • review immunization records and ensure compliance
  • maintain current list of community health services and resources
  • provide encouragement and reinforcement of positive student behavior
  • assist students with interpersonal and personal skills
  • provide physical assistance to disabled or medically fragile students
  • serve as member of instructional team
  • prepare, duplicate, and distribute materials
  • organize and arrange Operation School Bell activities
  • wash student clothing as necessary
  • support office team with phone coverage
  • distribute and track health registration forms
  • check students and classrooms for head lice
  • prepare field trip books with health accommodations
