Job Description

This job posting is for the position of Health Room Attendant listed under the Classified/07-01 category. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • satisfactory background clearance results with fingerprinting
  • proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • completion of medication administration training and competency
  • current CPR and first aid cards
  • annual HIV/AIDS training compliance
  • ability to pass basic math and written language tests
  • driver's abstract may be required
  • one year related healthcare work experience preferred
  • ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to health policies
  • physical ability to perform lifting and assist with hygiene
  • flexibility for varying on-call schedules

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • current CPR and first aid certification
  • successful completion of medication administration competency training
  • satisfactory background clearance including fingerprinting
  • proficiency in basic math, reading, and writing
  • ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • training in PDA for diabetics preferred
  • experience in related health care work preferred
  • basic keyboarding skills
  • ability to operate office equipment and manage records
  • willingness to comply with annual HIV/AIDS training and other district health requirements

Job Duties

  • Receives students in the health room and provides care for illnesses, injuries, and emergencies
  • administer medication as trained under district nurse delegation
  • receive, catalog, and secure medications for students
  • assist with health screenings and record results
  • contact parents regarding student health and follow up on medical referrals
  • prepare and maintain student health records and reports
  • review immunization records and ensure compliance
  • maintain community health resource information and make referrals
  • provide physical assistance to disabled or medically fragile students
  • support positive student behavior and communication with students, staff, and parents
  • assist with office duties including answering phones and organizing materials
  • coordinate Operation School Bell activities and transport students as required
  • check for head lice and maintain records
  • prepare field trip health documentation
  • wash student clothing and maintain grooming supplies
  • maintain medication administration competency and comply with health procedures
